About the hammocks
Are Hammock Hut hammocks really handmade?
Yes. Each hammock is handcrafted in St. Germain, Wisconsin. These are not mass-produced hammocks coming out of a factory. I make them individually with attention to the fabric, construction, stitching, and details that make each one special.
What do I need to hang my hammock?
That depends on where you plan to use it. Hammocks can be hung between suitable trees, posts, or from a properly built hammock stand. I offer hanging options and accessories to make setup easier. Visit the Hang Your Hammock page for more information.
Do hanging straps come with the hammock?
Hanging straps and accessories are sold separately unless a product listing specifically says they are included. This lets you choose the hanging system that works best for where you plan to use your hammock.
How far apart should my trees or mounting points be?
There is some flexibility depending on the height of your mounting points and the hanging hardware you use. The Hang Your Hammock page gives you a better idea of how to set up your hammock for a comfortable hang.
Can I use my hammock indoors?
Absolutely. A hammock can be installed indoors as long as it is attached to properly rated structural mounting points. Never attach a hammock to drywall, trim, or anything that is not designed to support the load.
Can I leave my hammock outside?
The fabrics and construction are made for real use, but any hammock will last longer when it is protected from unnecessary exposure to prolonged rain, moisture, snow, and harsh weather. Bringing it inside when it will not be used for an extended period is always a good idea.
How do I clean it?
Most of the fabrics I use have a Scotchgard or similar protective finish, so they usually do not need aggressive washing. For everyday dirt, spot clean with mild soap and water. If it needs a more thorough rinse, give it a good rinse with a garden hose and let it drip dry completely. I do not recommend putting your hammock in a washing machine or dryer, since that can be hard on the fabric and may reduce the effectiveness of the protective finish.
Are the hammock colors exactly the same as they appear online?
I do my best to photograph fabrics accurately, but colors can look slightly different depending on lighting, photography, and the screen you are viewing them on. Fabric patterns can also vary slightly from hammock to hammock depending on where the material is cut.
Will my hammock look exactly like the one in the photo?
Very close, but not necessarily identical. Because many of the fabrics have patterns, each hammock can have its own placement of colors and design elements. That variation is part of what makes a handmade hammock unique.
How do I know which hammock to choose?
Start with the one you cannot stop looking at. Seriously. Construction quality is important, but a hammock also becomes part of your porch, yard, cabin, campsite, or home. Choose the fabric and personality that feels like you.
What is the difference between a Premium Hammock and other hammock options?
Premium Hammocks feature some of the most distinctive fabrics and materials I offer, along with the same focus on strong construction, comfort, and craftsmanship that goes into everything I make at the Hammock Hut. Individual product pages show the details for each hammock.
Ordering and shipping
How much does shipping cost, and when will my order ship?
Shipping is a flat $25 per order, regardless of order size or quantity. Applicable sales tax is added at checkout. Your order summary shows shipping and sales tax separately before you place your order, so you can see exactly how the final total is calculated. Orders are generally shipped once a week from St. Germain, Wisconsin. Once your order is on its way, you will receive shipping and tracking information.
Can I order online and pick it up at the Hammock Hut?
When local pickup is available, the available options will appear during checkout. You can also visit the Hammock Hut in St. Germain, Wisconsin and shop in person during store hours.
What if I have a question before I order?
Ask me. The Hammock Hut is a small business, not a giant call center. If you are unsure about a hammock, hanging setup, fabric, or anything else, reach out through the Contact page and I will do my best to help.
What if I need to exchange something?
Please visit the Shipping & Exchanges page for the current exchange information and policies before sending anything back.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Hammock Hut gift cards are available online and can be used toward something the recipient actually wants to pick out for themselves. They are delivered electronically, making them an easy option when choosing the perfect hammock for somebody else feels impossible.
